Will shedding after weight loss always resolve on its own?

Hair shedding after weight loss
Significant weight loss is one physical stressor that may be associated with telogen effluvium, and shedding may start later. Timing alone cannot establish the cause: diet, medicines, health and the pattern of thinning also matter.

Record when weight loss began, weight changes, dietary restrictions, when shedding started and any other symptoms. A doctor can assess nutritional or other factors as needed. Not everyone needs the same tests or supplements.

Do not combine several “hair-growth vitamins” or increase doses just because you are shedding. Bring details of existing medication or supplements to a doctor, pharmacist or nutrition professional.
Hair care can reduce pulling and strand damage, but cannot replace assessment of nutrition or illness. Lavender Hair explains everyday care using visible oil, surface build-up and hair condition, and makes the limits of the service clear.
Worsening shedding, bald patches, tiredness, other health symptoms or unexpected weight changes should be assessed by a doctor. Simply changing shampoo is not enough.
